No Excuses! – Why Doing the Little Things Makes a Huge Difference

…Can you go from no passive income to $8,000/month overnight? Crazy, right? But do you believe you could generate $1,000 /month within one year? I believe you can and you should believe it as well.

The Difference

You have often heard how doing the little things makes a difference. They don’t make a difference. Little things actually mean everything!

Whether it is health, relationships, or wealth: can you really improve overnight?

The answer is a resounding YES! The problem is that most people want things to improve too much overnight.

One of my mentors, Del Walmsley has told me you can’t get rich slow and never lose money. How many of you have lost money in the past few years in your investments?

Several years ago I wrote a book called, “Focused Action: How To Make Big Changes In Your Life In as Little As Five Minutes A Day!” Five minutes you ask? How could someone make BIG changes in as little as five minutes a day?

Consistency

You see, consistency is the answer. Changing habits is the answer. Being a coach since I was 16 years old, I have been fortunate to learn from some of the best coaches in business, sports , and in life. I have learned the right way to coach and what habits make people successful in their chosen profession. And you know what … I want to tell you a secret…it is easy!

Here is the secret of success: Find someone who is successful at what you want to do..and follow them! That’s it!

But how do you get there? How do you follow people that are successful with passive income of ten, twenty, or fifty thousand dollars per month when you currently have nothing? This is where little things come in. Sit down and set some goals. More importantly, write them. And since I happen to like real estate, let’s focus on that area.

Let’s say your goal is to retire yourself in five years and earn $ 8,000 per month in passive income. That puts you just under $100,000 in passive income. You like that number? I do! So how are you going to get there? Can you go from no passive income to $8,000/month overnight? Crazy, right? Yes it is crazy. But do you believe you could generate $1,000 /month within one year? I believe you can and you should believe it as well.

DO Something!

If you wanted to lose 20 pounds would you go out and run 10 miles today? Of course not. You would not even walk 10 miles today. But what if you walked a ¼ mile. And you increased your distance 10% per day. Do you realize that in 30 days you would be able to walk almost FIVE miles?

Generating $1000/month in passive real estate income within one year is reachable for everyone! No excuses. You just have to start. I often have investors passing on deals while waiting for the “perfect deal.” I am here to tell you that there is no perfect deal. Just great deals.

Change your beliefs and starting right now by doing ANYTHING to get into a Single Family house. Even if it only makes you $ 200/month. So you ask: but I want to make $ 1000/moth within in a year? Who said you couldn’t? But unless you buy one, you will never get to two …or three … or four, or more!

And once you buy your first; with everything you have learned, who is to say that you will not make $ 500/month in house number two?

CANI

Tony Robbins talks about the discipline of CANI (ka’ ni). It stands for constant and never ending improvement. But when he talks about it, he mentions the need for everyone to be constantly improving their lives. And he tells you to do this in small incremental steps. How do you start the following things? Walk a mile ? With a single step. Read a book? With a single word Eat an elephant? With a single bite! Build wealth with real estate? Buy ONE single family house.

I think you get my point. Marathon runners obviously have a goal. But when they start they are not thinking about the end of the race. They break the marathon down into several smaller increments. If you have ever seen the beginning of the big marathons my priority for the first couple of miles would be to not get trampled! Marathon runners cannot even see their ultimate goal. With that crowd they can barely see anything.

When you watch a race do you ever notice that some runners get faster at the end of the race? How can they do this? Because while they had their ultimate goal in mind (finishing within a particular time), they had broken down their bigger goal into smaller incremental goals.

Overcoming Obstacles

What would have happened if the marathon runner ran as fast as he could for the first five miles? Disaster! He might not have even finished the race! The winner was someone who set their big goal but set smaller goals along the way….kept up a steady momentum…and improved his position the closer he got to the finish and completed his ultimate goal.

The marathon runner started with but a single step and had to dodge all kinds of obstacles in the beginning that could have proven disastrous. But then as long as he kept his momentum going, the obstacles became less and less, and finally at the end there were no obstacles. In fact he can usually see his goal when he is still one mile away.

It is OK to start slow. Just start! Think about when you approach a red light with nobody in front of you. And you try to time the light so that it turns green while you car is still moving. It is a lot easier to accelerate if you car has some momentum than if it completely stops.

What do you have to do to get started?

You have to change your beliefs. You have to take that first step. You have to take some small action. And you have to put your ego aside and say, “Help me.”.

Find someone who has done it before and follow. Find someone who can coach you…mentor you…encourage you… and show you the way. There will always be challenges but by being prepared for these challenges, you will not only survive, but thrive! Breaking down your big goal into smaller incremental goals will help get confidence and build momentum.

There are no excuses!
